Philosophy of Education
If we work together we should find a way but
separately we can generate our own craft!
I feel that students should work
together sometimes but not all the time.
Students can grow as individuals without that time to learn and reflect
on what they have encountered in the classroom.
Projects and activities with others are helpful but when the students
have to work alone, they have to find different alternatives to strive for
success. They cannot rely on others to
get their work done for them, as some often used their group members.
I believe that showing manners like please, thank you, being courteous, and other conduct in the classroom helps teachers and students become better people. During my block placement, I taught with please and thank you…eventually I noticed my cooperating teacher using please and thank you too. It is contagious and easy to use, especially when you are sincerely interested in the well being of others.
I like differences. We as people should all be accepted no matter who we are. I want my students to see that even though we have many differences we still have a common goal of succeeding in the world around us. I want my students to embracing each other and stand together as a team. We are all a part of the this thing called life and we all can succeed even if we have disabilities or handicaps that sometimes slow us down.

Philosophy of Technology Integration
“Technology gives us power, but it does not and cannot tell us how to use that power. Thanks to technology, we can instantly communicate across the world, but it still doesn’t help us know what to say.” -- Jonathan Sacks
I want to give my students the power, the power to use technology correctly and effectively. I want to prepare my students for not only the future but their future. We’ve come so far since when I was in school (1995-2007), I remember computer use to be so big and now their smaller but able to contain much more data. I remember learning (actually classes) on how a computer worked and using programs such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel in high school. Now that technology has changed so much since then, I believe we should incorporate much more of this technological information into the elementary school. Most students have some kind of device at home that they are well and capable to handle on their own but do they have anyone there that is willing or able to show them how to work it correctly?
It is my goal to include technology within my daily teaching, even when I’m substituting or tutoring students, I tend to use the computer to show information or prepare an activity on a SMART board/Promethean board. I might also use my iPad that I take with me to school. By including technology in my teaching, I feel students are more engaged and wanting to learn more. I feel like it gives them better opportunities to learn different strategies. Also by introducing students into the world of technology, they will have better technology skills and curiosity for future opportunities to use technology.
Besides using webquests, virtual fieldtrips, interactive activities, Google sites, and interactive board lessons, I want them to ask questions about technology. What’s inside? Why does it work like that? How does it work? How does computer programming work? We should increase students thinking about how and why we use new technology so they can become part of the technological world out there. One step at a time, we can connect classrooms worldwide, create meaningful conservations between different people, and answer their curious questions.
By learning how to use technology; students seem to be more motivated and have better self-esteem. In a world where almost everything can be done online or using digital skills, we need to prepare students to live, work, and contribute to the technological workings of the future. We have standards for students, teachers, and administrators; we should be using the standards far more than we are today. Using these standards we can teach students to use technology to analyze, learn, and explore the world around them better.
“Man is still the most extraordinary computer of all.”
-John F. Kennedy
We need to allow students to become creative thinkers, able to use technology to the fullest possible ability. They can use these ideas to communicate and collaboration with their peers, teachers, and other people around them. I want to make it possible in my classroom for students to research and find answers on their own. I want to increase their decision making and problem solving skills with the use of technology. I want my students to have a firm understanding of what it means to be a digital citizen and how to operate technology proficiently, if not at least be knowledgeable enough to know how things work in the digital world.
